  9. Minimum System Requirements

  11. Preference Packer 2.0 requires the following to run.

  13. - PPC Macintosh
  14. - MacOS 8.5 or greater
  15.  
  16. If you need to run on a 68K Macintosh or an older OS version please let us know. For now use version 1.1.

  19. Starting Preference Packer
  20.  
  21. Before you begin: It is highly recommended that you rebuild your desktop.  This will guarantee that all the information in the Desktop Database is correct and up to date.  To rebuild your desktop hold Command + Option  when you boot up your computer.

After starting Preference Packer you will see the Main Screen.  Start by choosing if you would like to see a report or not by clicking on the check box next to 'Create Report.'  Then press the Begin button.  This will bring up a progress dialog showing the file that Preference Packer is currently checking and how far along it is.

Once Preference Packer has completed checking, the Listing Window will appear to show you what files it didn't find applications for.  You can then go through this list and click to the left of the name to place a check mark next to an item to select it.  Click the check mark to make it go away.  You can also click on the name in the list to get more information displayed on that file.  This information can help you to decide if the file is really needed or not.  Lastly, there is a 'Move To...' button which allows you to choose where you would like to move these files to.

  27. WARNING: You can not move files to a different volume.  They must stay on the same volume that the preference folder is on.

Once you are all done press the 'Done' button.  The files you placed check marks next to, will be moved to the folder you selected.  If you choose to create a report then you will be prompted to save the report and Preference Packer will open it so you can review it.  Also if you choose to show old preferences on the report then a list of preferences older then one year will be displayed at the end of the report.

  69. There are two options for registering Preference Packer 2.0.  You can use the registration program provided with the installer or visit our web site.

  72.    - Open the Registration Program in the Preference Packer Folder
  73.    - Follow the instructions provided

  76.    - Simply visit http://www.spextreme.com/

You can distribute the shareware version of this software by giving it to friends, uploading it to a BBS or to on-line services such as AOL and CompuServe.  You may also send it to any ftp site.  Basically you can distribute it any way you like, so long as you don't ask for any money for it without prior consent from SP extreme.  Preference Packer must be distributed with this unmodified document in the original compressed archive this product came in.
